Monika Trobits has lived in San Francisco for more than 30 years. In addition to her work in the corporate world, she was a docent/tour guide for historically-based organizations and local tour operators for more than 25 years. These include the California Historical Society, the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society, San Francisco Urban Adventures and San Francisco Sightseeing. She also led tours through the History Gallery of the Oakland Museum of California and at San Francisco’s majestic City Hall.
In 2011, Monika established her own tour company: San Francisco Journeys. These urban journeys are unique opportunities to experience San Francisco from multiple perspectives and showcase the city’s rich historical heritage, its diverse neighborhoods and its art, architecture and cityscapes by blending well-known sites with the local characteristics of San Francisco.
Her article, “Dashiell Hammett’s San Francisco in the 1920s” was published in the winter 2011 edition of the Argonaut, a local historic journal. Monika’s first book: Antebellum and Civil War San Francisco: A Western Theater for Northern & Southern Politics was published by The History Press. She has developed a new tour in association with this book. For more information, please visit her website: www.sanfranciscojourneys.com.
Monika is available to speak to local groups. Fees are negotiable. She may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 415-350-4303.
